Essential Doctrines of Christianity

 

While there are different denominations and different secondary and tertiary beliefs among Christians I do believe there is a core list of doctrines that you must believe to be a Christian. 

Norm Geisler published this list a long time ago in Geisler, Norman and Rhodes, Ron, Conviction Without Compromise.  Harvest House Publishers.  Eugene:  2008.  p.3.  I thought it would be helpful for those interested in fleshing out and understanding their Christian worldview.

• God’s Unity
• God’s Tri-unity (or triune nature)
  
• Christ’s deity
• Christ’s humanity
• Christ’s virgin birth
• Christ’s sinlessness
• Christ’s atoning death
• the bodily resurrection of Christ
• the bodily ascension of Christ
• Christ’s priestly intercession
• Christ’s bodily second coming
• the inspiration of scripture
• the literal interpretation of scripture
• Human depravity
• the necessity of grace
• the necessity of faith

I hope to look at these and flesh them out more in the future.
