The Bible is Your Guide
"Your experience is valid only as it is confirmed in the Scriptures. I never deny any experience that a person has had. I always reserve the right, however, to interpret it according to what I understand in the Scripture." p. 13
Interesting. I wonder how Mr. Blackaby would respond to the person who said "I never deny your right to interpret the Scripture, however, I always reserve the right to interpret it the way I want to." Therein lies, it seems to me, the inescapable problem of Protestantism --- the relativism of Luther. (I did it my way....) Where does the buck stop? Who gets the final say? Which interpretation is more valid? While orthodox Protestants generally interpret the Scriptures the way they ought to be, they cannot defend against heterodox interpretations. I have never heard a good answer to that problem.
This section states the Bible is My Guide. But it leaves unanswered... who is my guide to the Bible?
What is God's Will for My Life?
"Always check to see if you have asked the right question before you pursue the answer." p. 14 I like this statement, will have to incorporate it into my thinking, especially in terms of apologetics.
"What is God's will for my life is not the right question - right question is what is God's will." I'm prepared to accept this, especially if asking "What is God's will?" helps and sustains "What is God's will in my life?", if it seeks to escape the original question then it might not be as helpful.

"My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I, too, am working." John 5: 17
"I tel you the truth, the Son can do nothing by Himself; He can do only what He sees His Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. For the Father loves the Son and shows Him all He does. Yes, to your amazement He will show Him even greater things than these." John 5: 19-20
Jesus' example:
- The Father has been working up until now.
- Now God has Me working.
- I do nothing on My own initiative.
- I watch to see what the Father is doing.
- I do what I see the Father already is doing.
- You see, the Father loves Me.
- He shows Me everything that He, Himself, is doing.
Principle #1 - God is always at work around me.
